How It Works
Our Purpose
Thymeshare was born with the intention to ignite a system of exchange and appreciation for homegrown food. By encouraging urban farmers to share the fruits of their labor, we can foster a sense of community expanding the access to and the meaning of “local food”. Our aim is to encourage and incentivize people to grow food we can have an entirely different - more edible - urban landscape creating a culture of appreciation for and connection with the food the food we “share” and the people we share it with.
Share Your Bounty
Any aspiring urban farmers can use our application, so long as you have enough to share! It is free to sign up, and you can post your excess, homegrown produce for local food enthusiasts to browse. By providing an open channel of communication, growers and community members can arrange to share produce in the manner that works best for them. And, as a gardener, you can ensure that hard work will never go to waste!
Find Local Food
Are you hungry for local food but don’t have the time or means to grow it yourself? With ThymeShare you can easily search produce based on location. Once you've found whichever homegrown produce that satisfies your tastebuds, you can contact the grower and coordinate a pickup. There is no required payment here because we believe that uneaten food is always better enjoyed than wasted, however we encourage you to make a donation and show your appreciation to your grower!
